Mythology Behind Ramayan Path
The story of Ram has been told for over two millennia, beginning with the Valmiki Ramayana in Sanskrit — tradition calls Valmiki the Adi Kavi, the first poet. In the 16th century, Goswami Tulsidas retold the story in Awadhi as the Ramcharitmanas, bringing it into the language of ordinary homes, where it has been recited daily ever since. Kamban's Tamil Ramayanam, the Krittivasi Ramayan in Bengali and many other retellings are equally revered. The story itself — Ram's exile, Sita's abduction, Hanuman's devotion, the victory over Ravana and the return to Ayodhya — is remembered as a meditation on dharma: duty, truthfulness, family and compassion upheld through every trial.
