About this Puja
Rudrabhishek is the ceremonial bathing of the Shiva Linga while chanting the Rudra mantras from Yajurveda. It is one of the most powerful rituals to remove doshas, ill-health and Mahadasha effects.
Sacred abhishekam of Lord Shiva with 11 offerings for peace and moksha.
Traditional background
Mythology Behind Rudrabhishek
Rudrabhishek centres on the Shri Rudram — the Namakam and Chamakam of the Krishna Yajurveda (Taittiriya Samhita 4.5 and 4.7) — among the oldest and most revered hymns to Shiva in his Rudra form. The hymn addresses Rudra as present in all of creation, fierce and compassionate at once, and the Chamakam asks for every kind of wellbeing. Tradition holds that bathing the Shivling — with water, milk, curd, honey and other offerings — while the Rudram is chanted is among the most complete forms of Shiva worship. Devotees turn to it in gratitude, in difficulty, and in Shravan and on Maha Shivaratri as an act of surrender to Shiva.
